Lea Michele introduces her son to her Glee past

Date:

Lea Michele has begun showing her son moments from Glee, gradually introducing him to the work that made her a household name. The 39-year-old actress, who shares two children — Ever, five, and Emery, 15 months — with her husband Zandy Reich, chose to start with her performance of Let It Go from the opening episode of the show’s sixth series. As Ever is currently fascinated by Frozen, she felt it was the ideal way to help him recognise her musical background.

Michele explained to People magazine that Ever has recently realised that “mummy is a singer”, and although he has seen her live on stage in Funny Girl, he still doesn’t fully understand that Glee was a television programme. Despite his love for Frozen, she and Zandy have not yet revealed that Jonathan Groff — Ever’s beloved “Uncle Jonathan” — provides the voice of Kristoff, choosing to keep that little surprise for as long as possible.

Although it has been ten years since Glee came to an end, Michele continues to honour the series during her concerts. She enjoys asking audiences about their favourite performances from the show, explaining that their responses often bring back forgotten memories and remind her how deeply certain songs resonated with fans. She described these interactions as moments of genuine connection that transport her back through her career.

Michele has also reflected on her children’s strong bond with Groff, noting how much Ever and Emery adore him. She shared a recent highlight when Ever attended a performance of Groff’s Broadway show Just in Time, during which he came over and sang directly to the youngster. According to Michele, Ever “was smiling from ear to ear”, and the trio now sing Somewhere Beyond the Sea and Splish Splash together at home each night.
