A man who has long claimed to be the biological son of American rapper Jay-Z has officially withdrawn his federal lawsuit against the music mogul. Court records accessed by Us Weekly confirm that Rymir Satterthwaite filed a notice of withdrawal, effectively ending this particular legal pursuit. Over the weekend, Satterthwaite addressed the decision via a social media video, stating, “It has been a crazy couple of weeks. I have not stopped my fight,” suggesting there were complex developments “behind closed doors”.

Despite stepping back, Satterthwaite insisted that his withdrawal did not mean the end of his campaign. “We got to step back and play chess, not chequers,” he remarked cryptically. This latest development follows years of legal activity related to his claims, which Jay-Z has repeatedly dismissed as unfounded. In 2022, Satterthwaite was issued an injunction over what were described as numerous “frivolous” legal filings.
Jay-Z’s legal representatives had urged the court to dismiss this most recent federal suit without delay. The rapper, known formally as Shawn Carter and married to global pop icon Beyoncé, maintains that Satterthwaite’s claims have already been reviewed and rejected by multiple courts over the past 14 years. His legal team has characterised the ongoing actions as harassment.

In his official response, Jay-Z highlighted that he, along with his family, had been continually subjected to legal proceedings brought by Satterthwaite, his late mother, and a long-time caretaker. He reaffirmed that these cases were all based on a “false assertion” regarding paternity, which, he argues, has been consistently disproven through due legal process.
