Jessie J has shared a message of resilience and hope during her appearance on CBeebies Bedtime Story, as she continues to navigate her breast cancer treatment. The 37-year-old singer read My Path, a tale about a small snail learning to face life’s unexpected challenges and to keep moving forward even when the way ahead is unclear. Jessie, who revealed in June that she had been diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer and had undergone a mastectomy, spoke warmly about the significance of the story and its themes.

Reflecting on her own journey, Jessie said that every person follows their own unique path, which can lead in many directions. She explained that, like the snail in the book, we all encounter difficulties and moments that test our strength, but she reminds herself daily to “keep going”. She expressed her hope that both children and adults watching would take comfort and encouragement from the message at the heart of My Path. After finishing the story, she added an uplifting note, urging viewers to choose their path with joy, believe in magic and embrace life’s adventure.
The singer has spoken openly about how her diagnosis has transformed her outlook, describing the past year as life-changing. During a speech at the Music Industry Trust Awards earlier this month, she reflected on the impact cancer has had on her perspective, her priorities and the way she approaches both her personal life and her career. Jessie, who returned to performing only weeks after her first operation, highlighted the value of music as a source of connection, purpose and comfort during difficult times.

Her CBeebies Bedtime Story aired on Friday evening and is available on iPlayer. On Saturday, actor Ke Huy Quan will follow with a reading of Brian the Lion Who Learned by Frances Stickley.
