Glenn Close reveals unusual clause in her film contracts

Date:

Glenn Close has disclosed that she includes a clause in all her contracts allowing her to keep her costumes once filming ends. The Fatal Attraction star explained that before agreeing to any project, she ensures she has permission to take home selected items she has worn on screen.

Speaking on Friday’s episode of The Graham Norton Show, Close said she is generally free to “pick whatever” she likes from the wardrobe department. She admitted that while rented items are technically off-limits, she has occasionally taken those as well, resulting in what she described as an “extraordinary collection”. The actress added that her on-set keepsakes extend beyond clothing, recalling how she kept the prosthetic earlobes she wore for Hillbilly Elegy and later had them framed as a gift for director Ron Howard—much to his surprise, as their appearance in the frame was unintentionally suggestive.

Elsewhere in the programme, Close reflected light-heartedly on her run of eight Oscar nominations. The 78-year-old joked that she is not eager to “break the run by actually winning”, noting that she sometimes prepares an acceptance speech, though never the same one twice. She is currently promoting Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the latest instalment in the popular franchise, in which she said she has a “great part”.

Close emphasised the camaraderie on set, explaining that the cast preferred to spend time together rather than retreat to their individual trailers. Instead, they created a moveable green room where they would gather to chat, rest and share stories. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery was released in cinemas on Friday.
