TV presenter Davina McCall has announced that her “final MRI” shows her benign brain tumour has been completely removed and will not return. The former Big Brother host, 57, underwent surgery in November 2024 to remove a colloid cyst, which had been discovered following a health check-up, part of her advocacy work for menopause awareness.

In a heartfelt update to her followers, McCall expressed her gratitude, stating how fortunate she feels to be able to “draw a line under this” when so many others cannot. In an Instagram video alongside her partner, celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas, McCall shared the positive results of her MRI scan. “I was a bit nervous about it,” she said, acknowledging the possibility that if any of the tumour remained, it could grow back. Thankfully, the scan was “clear”, and she thanked the medical team for their excellent care.
McCall reflected on her journey, saying, “I am so, so grateful, particularly because I know a lot of people have inoperable tumours, and I know I’m lucky to be able to move on with my life.” She emphasised the importance of understanding that “benign does not mean fine,” urging others to be vigilant about their health. She also noted how the experience has given her a deeper appreciation for life, as many people face more difficult battles with their health.

Following the surgery, McCall spent some time in intensive care before recovering at home with Douglas’ support. Throughout her recovery, she has continued to advocate for women’s health, including her work on menopause awareness. Her commitment to raising awareness earned her an MBE in 2023, and in 2024, she received a special recognition award at the National Television Awards for her exceptional contributions to broadcasting.
