Celebrity participants in London marathon raise awareness for charitable causes

Joel Dommett has revealed that he fainted just before reaching the finish line of the London Marathon, which saw other well-known figures such as Sky News presenter Beth Rigby and BrewDog co-founder James Watt also taking part. The 39-year-old Masked Singer presenter was running to raise both funds and awareness for Brain Tumour Support, a charity close to his family’s heart after they supported his wife, Hannah Cooper, following her mother’s brain tumour diagnosis. Alongside Dommett, Watt, Rigby, and Jesy Nelson’s partner, Zion Foster, were among thousands of participants battling the heat on Sunday.

Dommett shared his experience on Instagram, stating, “Not the race I expected! I fainted at mile 17 – don’t really remember much but I woke up in an ambulance!” He thanked two individuals, Frankie and Barry, for their support during the incident. Despite the setback, he managed to continue, albeit at a much slower pace, eventually completing the marathon. He expressed pride in his achievement, adding, “Proud of myself for finishing.”

Among the other celebrities, James Watt received a supportive kiss from his wife, Georgia Toffolo, during the race. The former Made In Chelsea star, who had competed on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Celebrity Hunted, cheered him on from the sidelines as he ran for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of his father, who passed away from stage four cancer. Meanwhile, Rigby ran for the North London Hospice in honour of her late friend, Laura, who succumbed to ovarian cancer in June 2024. She surpassed her £10,000 fundraising target on JustGiving, ultimately raising over £17,000.

In a remarkable achievement, radio presenter Adele Roberts, who herself is a bowel cancer survivor, broke the record for the fastest aggregate time to complete all World Marathon Major races with a stoma. The 46-year-old former Dancing On Ice contestant expressed her disbelief at the feat, saying, “I can’t quite believe it, it just feels so special, especially to finish all six (marathon) majors.” Meanwhile, Zion Foster, partner of Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson, ran for the Twins Trust charity, raising more than £4,800 in support of those with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), a condition affecting identical twins. Nelson, who is currently dealing with a high-risk pregnancy, watched the race from her hospital bed and expressed her pride, saying, “My heart feels so proud of you, you got this my angel.”
