BAFTA-winning actor Micheal Ward appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London on Thursday for a preliminary hearing, facing serious allegations. The 27-year-old, known for his role as Jamie in the hit series Top Boy, has been charged with three counts of sexual assault and two counts of rape. He was granted conditional bail, with the case scheduled for a further hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 25 September.

Ward, of Jamaican descent, attended the short hearing wearing a black jacket and dark glasses, confirming his name, date of birth, and address. He has not yet entered a formal plea, but following the announcement of the charges in July, he issued a statement denying them entirely. He emphasised his full cooperation with police and expressed faith that the proceedings would clear his name.
The charges reportedly relate to a single woman and allegedly occurred in January 2023. The Metropolitan Police are leading the investigation, and Ward has refrained from commenting further while legal proceedings continue.

Ward has established himself in British and international film and television, with credits including The Old Guard, Blue Story, Empire of Light, and the recently released Eddington on 22 August. Before acting, he worked as a model and appeared in music videos for Lily Allen and Tom Walker.
