Teenager dies after disturbance at ayrshire deach as police launch investigation

A 16-year-old boy has died after an incident at Irvine Beach in Ayrshire, prompting a major police investigation. Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at approximately 6.45pm on Saturday, where they found Kayden Moy, from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital but sadly died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team has launched a formal inquiry, with Detective Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson urging witnesses to come forward. He noted that several individuals are believed to have been filming the scene at the time of the incident. “We are conducting a thorough investigation to understand exactly what happened. It’s vital that anyone who may have footage or relevant information speaks to us,” he said.

A dedicated online portal has been set up to allow members of the public to submit information directly to investigators. Submissions can be made anonymously. Superintendent Jim McMillan reassured the community, stating: “We understand the concern this tragic event will cause, and we want to assure residents that every effort is being made to identify those responsible.”

Additional police patrols will be present in the area over the coming days to support the local community and aid the investigation. Police are asking anyone who was at Irvine Beach on Saturday evening or who may have relevant footage to contact them via 101, quoting incident number 3106 of 17 May.
