Protester climbs Big Ben in London and calls for freedom for Palestine

Date:

A protester scaled the Elizabeth Tower, home to the Big Ben bell, in London last Saturday, 8 March. Climbing barefoot and without any safety equipment, he remained on the tower for approximately three hours. During the demonstration, the man raised a Palestinian flag and streamed a live video while shouting “Free Palestine.”

According to a reporter from The Guardian, the protester claimed that “peaceful protesters are being brutally arrested” and justified his actions by stating: “I took the protest to the so-called heart of democracy in the UK.” The Elizabeth Tower stands on the east side of the UK Houses of Parliament, also known as the Palace of Westminster.
