Liam Gallagher dedicates Stand By Me to brother amid ongoing legal case

Date:

Oasis returned to Wembley Stadium for the final UK shows of their Live ‘25 tour, with Liam Gallagher dedicating their hit Stand By Me to his older brother Paul. Paul Gallagher, 59, has denied charges of rape and other alleged offences, which reportedly occurred between 2022 and 2024. He also pleaded not guilty to coercive and controlling behaviour, multiple counts of sexual assault, intentional strangulation, threats to kill, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The band opened the concert hand-in-hand with Liam holding a maraca, greeting fans with “Have you missed us?” before performing classics including Hello, Some Might Say, Morning Glory, and Roll With It. At one point, Liam paused to dedicate Stand By Me to Paul, while the show also honoured late boxer Ricky Hatton with Live Forever, projecting his image to cheers from the audience.

Oasis originally announced their reunion tour in August last year, 16 years after their dramatic split in 2009, which followed a backstage altercation involving Noel Gallagher at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival. The band concluded their set with fan favourites Don’t Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, and Champagne Supernova, delighting the Wembley crowd with their trademark energy.

Ahead of the final song, Liam hinted at more to come, telling fans: “Thank you for keeping the faith. See you next year.” Rumours suggest the band could return to Knebworth, the site of their iconic 1996 gigs, as they prepare to continue their Live ‘25 tour internationally in Japan, South Korea, Australia, and South America.
