Jax Taylor steps back from business and TV to prioritise wellbeing

Date:

Jax Taylor has officially cut ties with his Los Angeles bar, Jax’s Studio City, as part of a broader decision to focus on his personal wellbeing. The 46-year-old reality television personality, who has recently spoken candidly about his struggles with addiction, confirmed the move shortly after his name was removed from the venue’s marquee signage. A representative for Taylor told Us Weekly that the decision marked “a carefully considered and necessary step to prioritise his sobriety and mental health”.

This announcement follows Taylor’s departure from the reality series The Valley, a spin-off from Vanderpump Rules. Earlier this month, Taylor revealed his intention to step back from the show to concentrate on his recovery and co-parenting responsibilities. He shares a four-year-old son, Cruz, with his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright. In a statement, Taylor said: “After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley. Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and co-parenting.”

Despite stepping back, Taylor suggested this is not a permanent departure from the spotlight. Speaking on his podcast, In the Mind of Jax Taylor, he clarified: “This is not goodbye. This is kind of just a pause on things.” He added that after consulting with his team and producers, it felt right to take a break from filming season three of the show. His comments indicated a possible return in the future, once his personal priorities are in a better place.

Season two of The Valley documented the breakdown of Taylor’s marriage and his personal challenges. He reflected on the difficulty of reliving emotional moments during broadcasts, saying: “You get past a lot of stuff after filming, and then you have to relive it again when the show comes on. That kind of never allows the wound to technically heal because the scab keeps getting ripped open.” For now, Taylor hopes that stepping away from both business and television will offer him the space to heal and grow.
