Georgia Tennant reports violent online threats to police

Date:

Actress Georgia Tennant has contacted the police after receiving a series of violent threats on social media. The 40-year-old performer, who is married to Doctor Who and Broadchurch actor David Tennant, shared screenshots of some of the abusive messages on her Instagram story. The posts included explicit insults and death threats, with one message falsely referring to her as David Tennant’s “ex-wife” and another urging her to “die for good”.

Tennant tagged both the Metropolitan Police and Instagram in her posts, calling for action to be taken against the individuals responsible. The incident follows her recent revelation that she had been targeted by an alleged stalker who reportedly offered a reward for her murder. She publicly challenged Facebook after receiving a post that read: “Whoever kills Georgia Tennant immediately will receive a reward from me,” questioning why such content did not breach the platform’s community standards.

Earlier this year, Tennant marked 17 years with her husband by sharing a heartfelt tribute celebrating their relationship. Posting a series of photos, she described David as “kind, funny and relentlessly generous”. The couple share five children: Ty, Georgia’s son from a previous relationship who was adopted by David, as well as Olive, Wilfred, Doris and Birdie.

Georgia and David Tennant first met in 2008 while filming the BBC’s Doctor Who, in which she portrayed Jenny, the genetically engineered daughter of the Doctor. They married three years later. She is widely recognised for her roles in Doctor Who, Merlin and The Bill, and continues to maintain a strong presence both on screen and within British entertainment.
