Elon Musk has renewed his criticism of the U.S. federal government, denouncing a newly released Department of Justice memo that concluded there was “no credible evidence” Jeffrey Epstein maintained a “client list” for blackmail purposes. The brief report also reaffirmed the official finding that Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail in August 2019. Declaring the memo “the final straw”, Musk took to social media to challenge its conclusions and accuse the authorities of covering up key information. He also ridiculed the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein case, which he claims has long lacked transparency.

In a string of posts on X, Musk shared memes mocking officials and reignited suspicions surrounding Epstein’s death and connections. One meme depicted a zeroed digital counter titled “The Official Jeffrey Epstein Paedophile Arrest Counter”, implying that no justice had been served. Musk, who has distanced himself politically from Donald Trump and is reportedly launching a new political movement, accused the former president of being mentioned in Epstein-related documents—a claim Trump strongly denies.
Musk alleged that the Epstein files remain concealed because they implicate prominent individuals, including Trump. “Time to drop the really big bomb,” Musk posted, claiming Trump’s name appeared in Epstein’s documents. He later deleted the post and admitted he may have “taken things too far”, though the dispute between the two high-profile figures has continued to escalate. Last week, Trump responded by saying Musk had “gone off the rails”, further deepening their public falling-out.

Criticism has also been directed at U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom Musk accused of mishandling the case. Bondi drew ridicule earlier this year for hosting an event at the White House with right-wing influencers and distributing binders that reportedly included no new information. Despite the DOJ’s insistence that no further investigations are warranted, Musk and others continue to call for the full release of Epstein-related records. The controversy underscores ongoing distrust in the official narrative and the political tensions surrounding it.
