Stand-up comedian Ken Flores died from cocaine toxicity at the age of 28, a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has confirmed. The report also cited a history of congestive heart failure as “another significant condition”. Flores passed away in January, with his death publicly announced two days later on his Instagram account. His family wrote: “It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our friend, brother, and son, Kenyi Flores. Please respect our privacy at this time as we are all shocked and devastated by this loss.”

In the weeks leading up to his death, the Chicago-based performer had been promoting his 33-date Butterfly Effect Tour. He had recently shared on social media that he was remaining alcohol-free while on the road, saying he had completed shows in Portland, Albuquerque and Atlanta without drinking. Posting on X, he explained: “I’m not sober, just wanna chill a bit,” adding that he was hopeful about continuing the effort during upcoming performances.
Flores built a strong online following with his viral sketches and comedic content, amassing nearly a million followers across Instagram and TikTok. His career highlights included participating in a roast battle with Comedy Central’s Jeff Ross, which bolstered his reputation as one of the rising stars in stand-up comedy. His distinctive humour and approachable style earned him recognition both online and on stage.

Tributes poured in following news of his passing. The Hollywood Improv shared photos of his performances, writing: “We were honoured to share your talent on our stages. You were greatness, and it was only a matter of time until the whole world saw it.” Fellow comedians, including Neema Naz and René Vaca, also expressed their grief, calling him a “gem” and a “king”. The band Los Desvelados added: “Ken, thank you for all the amazing times, the laughter, the jokes. You will be missed.”
