Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci part ways after two years together

Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci have ended their two-year romance, the Beetlejuice director and Italian actress confirmed in a joint statement on Friday (19.09.25). The pair expressed mutual respect and care in announcing their split, saying: “It is with much respect and deep care for each other that Monica Bellucci and Tim Burton have decided to part ways.”

The couple first met in 2006 but are believed to have rekindled their connection at the Lumiere Film Festival in France in 2022, with Bellucci confirming they became a couple the following year. The 60-year-old actress told Elle France that meeting Burton was a rare and meaningful encounter, adding, “I love Tim. And I have great respect for Tim Burton.”

Bellucci appeared in Burton’s 2024 film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, portraying Delores, the ex-wife of Michael Keaton’s titular character. She described the experience as an honour, praising Burton’s ability to blend the fantastic, horrific, comic, and emotional. She added that he had introduced her to classic Italian cinema, including the works of Mario Bava.

Burton, 67, who shares children Billy, 21, and Nell, 17, with former partner Helena Bonham Carter, had previously described Bellucci as “very special”. Despite their split, both stars spoke warmly of one another, highlighting the respect and admiration that endured throughout their relationship.
