Susanna Reid has confirmed that she will be taking a short break from ITV’s Good Morning Britain, although a temporary replacement is yet to be announced. The presenter, who regularly appears from Monday to Wednesday and alternate Thursdays, revealed on the 3rd of April’s edition that she will be off the programme for “a couple of weeks”.

As the show drew to a close, co-host Ed Balls said: “And Susanna, we’ll see you in a couple of weeks’ time,” to which Reid replied: “See you in a couple of weeks, I’m going to go and spend some time off. I will be back – do not fear.” This latest time away follows a similar hiatus in February, when Reid also briefly stepped back during the half-term period, confirming she’d return shortly after. She currently presents alongside a team including Ed Balls, Richard Madeley, and Kate Garraway, and has been a fixture of the GMB line-up since 2014 following a 13-year run on BBC Breakfast.
Recently, Reid was reunited on-screen with former co-presenter Piers Morgan, though their exchange took an awkward turn. During a light-hearted moment, Morgan joked about his absence from the programme, exclaiming: “Hang on, are we just going to ignore the fact that I haven’t been here in 1,453 days?!” He then leaned in for a hug, which Reid declined, replying: “No, what?! No, no, I don’t want a hug.”

Morgan instead shared a hug with Ed Balls and later teased Reid for moving on quickly. Laughing, she said: “I’ve got a couple of new husbands now,” before clarifying, “No, I don’t do hugs, as you know.” Her frankness struck a familiar tone with viewers who are used to Reid’s down-to-earth and professional on-screen manner.
