Supernatural, the cult noughties thriller series led by Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, is currently trending on Prime Video. The long-running show, which first aired in 2005, spans 15 seasons and follows brothers Dean (Ackles) and Sam Winchester (Padalecki) as they travel across the United States hunting demons, ghosts, monsters and even gods.

The series has built a devoted fanbase over the years and enjoys an impressive 93% overall rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Its debut season holds an 80% score, with early reviews praising its mix of suspense and supernatural storytelling. The Washington Post described it as “electrifying”, while the Orlando Sentinel highlighted the strong dialogue, special effects and “hair-raising plots”. The San Francisco Chronicle commended its consistency, noting the programme “knows what it is, what it wants to accomplish, and gets there in a sweet-looking package”.
Viewers have also continued to share their appreciation online. On IMDb, one fan wrote that they were “immediately hooked” due to the dynamic between the Winchester brothers, praising the chemistry between Ackles and Padalecki. Another viewer, who only discovered the series recently, called it “one of my favourite supernatural shows of all time”, crediting the lead actors’ performances as a major part of its enduring appeal.

After 15 seasons, Supernatural came to an end in 2020 when it was cancelled by The CW. Reflecting on the conclusion during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Ackles said: “There was a reason why I think we all stuck around, though, because we just truly enjoyed it. It was a family. I spent birthdays and we spent holidays and we went through so much together as a crew and a cast that by the end of it, it was a really sad goodbye, but something that we all felt like we really earned.”
