British actor Owen Cooper, best known for his standout performance as Jamie Miller in the Netflix drama Adolescence, is set to appear in the music video for Sam Fender’s newest single, Little Bit Closer. The video marks Cooper’s latest high-profile project following his breakout television role earlier this year.

The track, released in February, is part of Fender’s latest album People Watching, which the musician describes as a reflection of “colourful stories and observations of everyday characters living their everyday, but often extraordinary, lives”. On Instagram, Fender shared a teaser for the video, featuring a black-and-white image of Cooper wrapped in a blanket, gazing into the distance, along with a short clip from the shoot.
Despite the teaser showing only the actor’s back, fans quickly identified Cooper, with one comment reading: “Is that Owen Cooper??” Another user joked that, following Fender’s previous collaboration with Stephen Graham, he should now team up with Adolescence co-star Erin Doherty: “If that’s Owen, then you just need Erin Doherty in a vid now to complete the set.”

The upcoming video reunites familiar creative partners, with Adolescence director Philip Barantini — who also helmed Fender’s 2021 Spit Of You video — engaging once more, hinting at his involvement with a cryptic emoji comment online. Looking ahead, Cooper will play a young Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s much-anticipated adaptation of Wuthering Heights, alongside Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. The film is set to hit UK cinemas on 13 February 2026.
