After 16 years apart, Oasis made a spectacular return to the stage at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, marking the start of their long-awaited global reunion tour. Noel and Liam Gallagher arrived to a roaring crowd, launching their set with Hello from the iconic What’s the Story Morning Glory? album. The gig, attended by tens of thousands, was a momentous occasion for fans both old and new. Liam acknowledged the lengthy wait, telling the audience, “It’s been too long,” before leading into fan favourites like Cigarettes And Alcohol and Champagne Supernova.

The reunion was not without humour or reflection. Both Gallagher brothers took playful jabs at the dynamic pricing scandal that saw ticket prices soar, joking with the crowd about the “£40,000” some had supposedly paid. Despite the lack of on-stage banter between the two, they shared a brief moment of unity with a high-five and shoulder hug at the close of the set. A poignant tribute was made during Live Forever, with an image of footballer Diogo Jota displayed in honour of his recent passing.
Support acts included Cast and Richard Ashcroft, both staples of 1990s British music. Cast dedicated Walkaway to Jota, while Ashcroft delivered a stirring performance, closing with Bittersweet Symphony. The atmosphere around Cardiff was electric, with local pubs packed and the city streets filled with fans in Oasis merchandise. The scale of the event reflected the band’s enduring legacy and cultural significance.

Oasis will continue their reunion tour across the UK and Ireland this summer, with performances scheduled at major venues including Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park, before heading overseas. A feature film directed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is also in the works to accompany the tour. Fans travelled from around the world to witness the historic reunion, with many describing the experience as “life-changing” and “unreal”. As Liam said to close the night, “Nice one for putting up with us over the years.”
