Mila Kunis has spoken about her long-standing love of murder mysteries, as she prepares for the release of Wake Up Dead Man, the latest instalment in the Knives Out franchise. The 42-year-old actress appears alongside an ensemble cast that includes Daniel Craig, Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott and Cailee Spaeny. She revealed that the genre has always appealed to her, recalling how she once hosted murder mystery parties with friends, complete with scripts, characters and staged twists.

Kunis explained that the parties became a regular tradition, with a writer friend creating storylines for groups of about 15 guests. They would read scripts over dinner, act out scenes and attempt to unravel the mystery, often discovering halfway through the evening that a character had “died”. She described the events as entertaining, light-hearted and a perfect reflection of her fondness for the genre.
Despite her enthusiasm for murder mysteries, Kunis admitted she initially felt nervous about joining such a high-profile project. However, she soon felt at ease thanks to the warmth of her co-stars and director Rian Johnson. The experience, she said, was welcoming and enjoyable from the outset.

Kunis emphasised that any hesitation about accepting the role would have been foolish, given Johnson’s reputation for creating some of the most enjoyable sets in the industry. She added that working with such a distinguished cast was both inspiring and exciting, calling herself a fan of many of the actors involved.
