Kevin McCloud is back on our screens with Grand Designs, as he travels across the UK to meet new individuals taking on the challenging task of building their dream homes. Now in its 25th series, the Channel 4 programme showcases a range of unique and ambitious projects, from giant curved glass houses to mansions made from clay, as well as former water towers turned into homes. This new series promises even more bold and creative designs.

In the opening episode, Sarah and Howard in Worthing embarked on the construction of their “floating home”, while Sarah and Pip in Bedfordshire worked to restore a “rickety” barn into something spectacular. Week three brought Kevin to 82-year-old Kathryn, who is creating an ultra-sustainable and accessible home for herself. The series continued with a revisit to Graeme and Melanie, whose unapologetically modern home in London was completed with a stylish, cutting-edge design.
This week, Kevin returns to London to check in with Elinor and Born, a couple he first met in 2017. The pair are constructing a clean-air, hypoallergenic home for themselves and their three children in response to the severe allergies and asthma their sons suffer from. The unusual back-garden site presented a variety of challenges, from limited access to a tight budget and difficult design decisions.

In the latest episode, seven years after the completion of their home, Kevin revisits Elinor and Born to see if their house has provided the relief they hoped for. Built with low-toxin materials and featuring powerful ventilation, their home is designed to improve the family’s health and quality of life.
