A monumental occasion awaits as a seven-foot bronze statue of the revered faith leader, Billy Graham, is poised to be unveiled at the US Capitol next week, marking a significant honor for the late evangelist’s enduring legacy.

Crafted by Charlotte-based artist Chas Fagan, the statue captures Graham’s essence, depicted with a gesture toward an open Bible, symbolizing his lifelong commitment to spreading the Gospel.

Graham’s impact transcended boundaries, as he preached to an estimated 215 million people across six continents throughout his remarkable career spanning over 80 years. His unwavering dedication to sharing the message of redemption earned him the distinction of providing spiritual counsel to 12 sitting US presidents and numerous world leaders.

Reflecting on Graham’s profound influence, Sen. Ted Budd of North Carolina remarked, “The legacy of Rev. Billy Graham is based on his simple message of forgiveness,” underscoring the enduring significance of Graham’s teachings.

The unveiling ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, May 16, will be attended by dignitaries including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Rev. Franklin Graham, among others. The occasion will be complemented by a performance from three-time Grammy Award winner Michael W. Smith, adding a touch of reverence to the event.
