Cynthia Erivo expressed her delight at opening the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, launching the annual New York celebration with a powerful rendition of Feeling Good. Dressed in a striking burgundy coat and matching hat, she performed from a small stage set in the middle of the street, accompanied by pianist Mark G. Meadows. The dramatic autumnal backdrop and her soulful vocals set the tone for the festivities.

The song, written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse in 1964, has been performed by numerous artists, with Nina Simone’s 1965 interpretation remaining the most iconic. After completing the showstopping number, Erivo used large gold scissors to cut the official parade ribbon, with the Radio City Rockettes standing behind her as the parade officially got underway.
Following her performance, Erivo shared her excitement on Instagram, describing the opportunity as an “honour”. She thanked the parade organisers and broadcast partners before adding that she was heading home to celebrate the holiday with family and friends. She also wished her followers a happy Thanksgiving.
