During the ceremony, Boseman’s widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, delivered a heartfelt tribute, emphasising his depth of character and spiritual strength. She described him as more than an artist, calling him a “spiritual teacher” who remained grounded through the support of his family, friends and trusted collaborators. She praised his integrity, devotion and kindness, noting that his legacy as both an icon and a hero had now been firmly cemented.

Filmmaker Ryan Coogler, who directed Boseman in Black Panther, also shared his admiration, comparing the experience of working with him to playing alongside sporting greats. Coogler highlighted Boseman’s exceptional talent and discipline, explaining that witnessing his dedication revealed both the extraordinary potential of human capability and the distance others felt from matching his standard.
