Dani Dyer reflects on early miscarriage and journey to motherhood

Date:

Dani Dyer has shared that she quietly experienced a miscarriage shortly before becoming pregnant with her first child, Santiago. The 29-year-old former Love Island winner revealed the loss occurred very early in the pregnancy and said it made her feel extremely anxious when she discovered she was expecting again. Speaking on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, she explained she underwent numerous scans for reassurance, admitting she frequently sought confirmation that the baby was healthy.

Dyer noted that although Santiago’s pregnancy was not planned, the miscarriage had influenced her mindset. She explained that she stopped being cautious because she felt ready to become a mother and wanted to try again. Santiago was born in January 2021 to Dyer and her former partner Sammy Kimmence.

The pair later separated in July 2021, after Kimmence was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for defrauding pensioners. Reflecting on the relationship, Dyer said she believed she should not have returned to Kimmence in 2019, but emphasised that she has no regrets because their son is such an important part of her life. She added that the experience ultimately helped shape her personal growth.
