Sydney Sweeney encourages women to embrace confidence and self-expression

Sydney Sweeney has spoken about her desire to inspire women to embrace their confidence and “flaunt what they’ve got”. The 28-year-old actress explained that while many people view her as a “sex symbol”, that perception doesn’t reflect who she truly is. She told Variety that her sense of empowerment comes from within and that she hopes to encourage other women to feel strong and unapologetic about their bodies and self-expression.

“I play a lot of very divisive characters, and people often think they know me, but they don’t,” Sweeney said. “When others assume I’m leaning into being a sex symbol, I’m not — I just feel good, and I’m doing it for myself. I hope I can inspire women to be confident, to flaunt what they’ve got, and to stop feeling they need to hide or apologise for it.”

The Euphoria star also spoke about taking charge of her own career, admitting that standing up for her worth in Hollywood can be challenging. “Being an actress, it’s difficult to walk into a room and demand your value,” she said. “I have to remind myself, ‘Hey, Syd, you’re powerful — stand up a little taller.’”

Despite her rapid rise to fame, Sweeney acknowledged she’s still learning how to manage life in the spotlight. Speaking to ES Magazine, she said she strives to remain authentic and open but still values privacy. “I’m very open and talkative, but I also want to keep parts of my life just for me,” she shared. “It’s a tricky balance — I’m still figuring it out.”
