Buckingham Palace seeks new home for Sarah Ferguson amid talks over Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge lease

Date:

Buckingham Palace is reportedly exploring housing options for Sarah Ferguson as discussions continue over Prince Andrew’s future at Royal Lodge in Windsor. Palace aides are said to have suggested several proposals as part of ongoing efforts to resolve the Duke of York’s lease agreement, which has drawn public scrutiny. The Duke and his former wife currently reside together at the 30-room residence, along with the two corgis once owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

According to The Sun, Prince Andrew is alleged to have issued an “ultimatum” to the King, requesting Frogmore Cottage for himself and Adelaide Cottage for Ms Ferguson. However, palace sources have denied that Adelaide Cottage – soon to be vacated by the Prince and Princess of Wales – was part of any formal negotiations. Frogmore Cottage, previously home to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, remains under consideration as a potential new residence for Prince Andrew, despite his earlier reluctance to move there.

A source told The Telegraph that neither Prince Andrew nor Ms Ferguson had demanded separate homes, but that the idea had been raised among several options discussed by the palace over the past year. None of these proposals have been finalised, though Buckingham Palace is said to have “requested” that the Duke vacate Royal Lodge soon. The property has become a point of controversy following revelations that Prince Andrew misled the public over his ties to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Negotiations are ongoing between the King’s representatives and the Duke regarding his living arrangements. While Prince Andrew’s lease with the Crown Estate prevents a legal eviction, the palace is reportedly keen to reach a settlement amid mounting political and public pressure. The King has not yet issued a personal statement, but a message released on 27 October confirmed that Prince Andrew will no longer use his title or honours, reiterating his denial of the accusations against him.
