Hilary Swank mourns the loss of her beloved dog Kai

Hilary Swank has spoken openly about the heartbreak of losing her cherished dog, Kai. The double Academy Award-winning actor shared the sad news on Instagram, posting several touching photographs of her rescue pet. In a moving message, Swank described the loss as “unexpected”, reflecting on the deep pain of saying goodbye to a much-loved companion.

“Although any soul transition seems unexpected, doesn’t it?” she wrote. “Even if you have time to process it, long before it happens, it still feels sudden, surreal and ever so heartbreaking. Please help me in saying goodbye to our dear four-legged family member, Kai.” The accompanying images showed the Million Dollar Baby star embracing her dog and enjoying walks together.

Swank went on to describe Kai as “such a good boy” who had a knack for becoming “everyone’s favourite when you least expected it”. She expressed her gratitude for his constant companionship over the years, writing: “You will be missed beyond measure. Thank you for being by my side, so steadfast, through so many years and so many transitions. I love you, always and forever.”

Following her post, several of Swank’s celebrity friends offered their condolences in the comments section. Actor Mariska Hargitay wrote, “Oh, sweet Hil. Sending you all love,” while fans from around the world sent heartfelt messages of support to the star during her time of loss.
