Graham Platner campaign manager resigns amid controversies

Date:

Graham Platner, a Democrat and oyster farmer running for Senate in Maine, has seen his campaign manager resign just days after taking the role. The departure follows scrutiny over Platner’s past social media posts and a chest tattoo resembling a Nazi “totenkopf” symbol.

Kevin Brown, the campaign official, cited family reasons for stepping down, explaining that a new baby on the way made it necessary to focus on family rather than the campaign. He added that Platner deserved a manager fully committed to the race.

Platner, a Marine veteran with an anti-establishment platform, has attracted endorsements from progressives like Bernie Sanders, while mainstream party figures, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, back another candidate. His policy platform promotes universal healthcare and immigration reform, though recent coverage has focused more on his personal controversies.

The candidate apologised for his Reddit posts and said he was unaware of the Nazi associations of his original tattoo, which he has since covered. Despite the controversies, Platner maintains Sanders’ endorsement and continues to pursue the Senate seat.
