Cristin Milioti reflects on her worst job in early career

Date:

Cristin Milioti has revealed that working at an amusement park was one of the worst jobs she has ever had. The 40-year-old actress admitted she has taken on her fair share of “bad jobs”, but a five-month stint at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania stands out as the one she “really, really hated”. She worked there at the age of 18, performing in a show about chocolate for the theme park’s visitors.

Milioti also recalled one of the worst things she has ever tasted — a sip from a bottle of Baileys that had gone off — as well as the most unpleasant smell she has encountered. She described the odour of urine in a sweltering underground station as something that makes her “skeleton want to escape” her body.

Despite a challenging start, Milioti has forged a successful career in the entertainment industry. However, she joked that her first role on stage gave little indication of future success, recalling how she played a supporting hen in a school production of The Little Red Hen, where “everyone got to be a hen”.

The Penguin star added that she had aspirations for a career in Hollywood from a young age. She once met filmmaker John Waters as a child and proudly told him she wanted to be a director. Waters signed a headshot for her with the message “To the future”, which she displayed for years. Milioti now hopes to recover the treasured autograph, which is likely stored at her parents’ house.
