BBC reviews complaint into Kaye Adams’ behaviour at Radio Scotland

Date:

Kaye Adams has been temporarily taken off air by BBC Radio Scotland while an internal investigation is carried out into a complaint regarding her behaviour. The broadcaster last presented her Mornings show on 6 October, and reports suggest the concerns were raised by junior members of staff. The BBC has confirmed that a formal process is under way, but has not provided specific details about the nature of the complaint.

A statement from BBC Scotland said the organisation does not comment on individuals, but emphasised it has “robust internal processes” for dealing with any concerns raised. Adams’ representatives have responded to claims made in the press by saying that no complaint has yet been raised directly with her and that she has worked for BBC Radio Scotland for more than 15 years without previous issues. The presenter has not publicly addressed the allegations.

The situation follows the recent introduction of the BBC’s Call It Out scheme, which encourages staff to report inappropriate behaviour as part of wider efforts to improve workplace culture. The initiative was adopted after investigations into conduct involving high-profile BBC figures, including Gregg Wallace during his time on MasterChef. Director general Tim Davie has said the scheme is intended to ensure staff feel supported in raising concerns and to help maintain standards across the corporation.

Adams’ absence from Radio Scotland is not believed to be permanent, and there is currently no indication that the review will impact her other media roles, such as her regular presenting position on ITV’s Loose Women. It remains unclear when the investigation will conclude or when she will return to the Mornings programme.
