A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping following reports that a woman was forced into a van in Canary Wharf, east London. Police were called shortly before midnight on 30 September after witnesses claimed to have seen a woman, believed to be aged between 28 and 32, being bundled into a white Ford Transit van on Millharbour Road, near the junction with Lighterman’s Road.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the suspect was detained on 1 October and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries. Officers are continuing to investigate whether the man was one of two individuals reportedly involved in the incident. The woman has not yet been identified, and concerns remain for her welfare.
Detective Inspector Grant Stevens, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are keen to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and remain concerned for the welfare of the young woman involved. Were you in or near Millharbour Road around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious, or do you have CCTV or mobile phone footage that could assist our investigation?”
