Prince William and Prince Harry to mark Queen’s anniversary with separate UK engagements

Date:

The Prince of Wales will commemorate the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death with an engagement in Berkshire, while the Duke of Sussex returns to the UK for the first time in five months. William is set to visit Sunningdale on Monday, whereas Harry will attend the annual WellChild Awards in London before travelling to a community recording studio in Nottingham on Tuesday. The King, currently at Balmoral, has no public engagements scheduled this week, and it remains uncertain whether the brothers will reunite during Harry’s stay.

Harry and the King last met in February 2024 following the monarch’s cancer diagnosis, but their time together was brief. The brothers were both present at their uncle Lord Fellowes’s funeral last year, although reports suggested they did not speak. During his visit, Harry will focus on mental health and youth initiatives, revisiting the Community Recording Studio in Nottingham’s St Ann’s area. He plans to meet with young people, community leaders, and representatives from local organisations such as Epic Partners and Coach Core, the latter originally founded by William, Harry, and the Princess of Wales to promote social mobility through sport.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales will continue his work on social issues, visiting Spiral Skills in Lambeth. The organisation, supported by William’s homelessness initiative Homewards, helps young people aged 14 to 25 develop employability and creative skills. He will also meet representatives from Young Creators UK and former England footballer Fara Williams to discuss the impact of such programmes in empowering young people. Later in the week, William will travel to Cardiff to visit a new mental health hub at Principality Stadium, established by the Jac Lewis Foundation and supported by the Royal Foundation.

The visit, coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Day, will see the prince meet Jac’s family and representatives from Welsh sporting organisations, highlighting the role of sport in mental health support. Meanwhile, speculation continues over Harry’s strained relationship with his family. Although he has spoken of his desire for reconciliation, tensions remain following public criticism of the Royal Family in his memoir and interviews. Senior aides to the King and Harry have reportedly begun efforts to reopen communication channels, suggesting a cautious step towards healing long-standing divisions within the royal household.
