Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham and acclaimed composer Tim Minchin will make their debut on the final episode of this series of Celebrity Gogglebox. The pair are set to commentate on a variety of television programmes during Friday’s instalment on Channel 4. They join familiar faces including presenter Alison Hammond, comedian Jonathan Ross, TV personality Rylan Clark, and broadcasters Sara Cox and Fearne Cotton, who featured in the most recent series.

Tim Minchin, best known for composing the music and lyrics of Matilda The Musical, based on Roald Dahl’s novel, shared his enthusiasm, saying: “Things I love: cheese, rosé, comfy couches, Hannah Waddingham. In combining them, I achieved a life-goal I didn’t know existed. Thank you, Gogglebox.” Matilda first opened in London’s West End in 2011, before transferring to Broadway and touring worldwide, winning seven Olivier Awards and four Tony Awards. The musical was recently adapted into a film featuring Emma Thompson, Stephen Graham, and Lashana Lynch.
Joining Minchin is actress and singer Hannah Waddingham, aged 50, who rose to prominence as Rebecca Welton in Apple TV’s Ted Lasso, a role that won her the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2021. Since then, she has appeared in the latest Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning alongside Tom Cruise, and lent her voice to characters in The Garfield Movie, Lilo & Stitch, and The Smurfs.

Gogglebox has been a staple on Channel 4 since 2013, producing over 20 series and several spin-offs. The celebrity edition airs on Channel 4 this Friday at 9pm, promising an entertaining mix of familiar personalities and candid television commentary.
