Sir Rod Stewart halts US tour dates amid flu battle ahead of Glastonbury set

Date:

Sir Rod Stewart has postponed several concerts in the United States as he continues to recover from flu, just weeks before his highly anticipated appearance at Glastonbury Festival. The 80-year-old singer is set to perform in the iconic “legends” slot on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday 29 June, a coveted position previously held by music icons such as Dolly Parton and Diana Ross.

The legendary performer shared the news with fans on Instagram, stating he was “devastated” to cancel or reschedule six upcoming shows. Four dates in Las Vegas and Stateline, Nevada, have been cancelled, while two performances in California are expected to be rearranged. Sir Rod expressed his sincere apologies, writing: “I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon,” signing off simply as “Sir Rod” with a heartbreak emoji.

Speaking recently on That Peter Crouch Podcast, the singer revealed he hopes to extend his Glastonbury set beyond the allotted hour and 15 minutes. “I play for over two hours every night and it’s nothing,” he said, noting that former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood will join him for part of the festival performance. The reunion marks a rare and highly anticipated moment for fans of the iconic rock group.

While Sir Rod has vowed not to retire, he confirmed that his forthcoming 2025 European and North American concerts will mark the end of his large-scale touring days. Future shows, he explained, will be held in more intimate venues. Just last month, the veteran rocker was honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the American Music Awards, presented to him by five of his children — a testament to both his enduring legacy and family support.
