NBC’s upcoming comedy pilot Stumble has welcomed three new cast members as excitement builds around the series. Taran Killam, Jarrett Austin Brown, and Georgie Murphy have joined the project, a mockumentary-style sitcom set in the absurdly competitive world of junior college cheerleading. The show has already cast Jenn Lyon in the lead role as Courteney Potter, a once-celebrated coach whose career takes a dramatic downturn.

The character of Courteney is described as being “tied for the winningest coach in junior college cheer history” until a scandalous video of her partying with her team derails her reputation. As a result, she ends up coaching at a less prestigious institution in a town so obscure, even the name is unpronounceable. The plot follows her efforts to rebuild her career against comically dismal odds.
Taran Killam, known for his work on Saturday Night Live, is set to portray Courteney’s husband and former high school sweetheart, Boone E. Potter, who serves as the football coach at Sammy Davis Sr. Junior College. Jarrett Austin Brown will take on the role of Dimarcus, a talented but hot-headed quarterback with a flair for racking up penalties. Georgie Murphy joins the ensemble as Sally, a young woman who grew up in foster care and now lives out of her car. Though she’s not the strongest cheerleader, Courteney recognises her untapped potential.

With its quirky premise and ensemble cast, Stumble promises to offer a humorous take on ambition, redemption, and small-town college sports. The project continues NBC’s trend of blending heartfelt storytelling with satirical flair, and could mark another standout comedy if the pilot is picked up to series.
